Buddhist Meditation Group meeting at Unity The Diamondway Buddhism Group of Nacogdoches is grateful to have the opportunity to now meet at the Unity Church of Nacogdoches. The Diamond Way Group is part of an international network of well over 600 meditation centers and groups, all in the Karma Kagyu tradition of Vajrayana (Diamondway) Buddhism. The centers, founded on the basis of idealism and friendship are directed by Lama Ole Nydahl under the spiritual guidance of HH 17th Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje. Diamond Way Buddhism represents a lay Buddhist tradition that is particularly useful for modern people without their having to leave jobs or studies. Lama Nydahl, tasked by the 16th Karmapa to share the teachings with the West stated, "Our moments of real joy, where things are simply right and the hairs stand up on our arms with joy, are not caused by chasing happiness and seeking to fill our mind with pleasant impressions. They appear when we forget to expect or fear, to spend our energy on past or future, and just relax." The local group offers a public meditation Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm., as well as, retreats and teachings throughout the year. Most participants will arrive early, near 7pm, and enjoy socializing and getting acquainted with newcomers before the formal service begins. Sacred Healing Meditation (SHM) 6pm The Unity Sacred Healing Meditation ministry every Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm. in the Sanctuary. This gentle, loving experience of touch or near-touch encourages healing of physical, emotional, financial and relationship issues. This time of prayer and meditation is led by trained volunteers and is open to everyone. The intent is to amplify the natural energies of the mind and body, thus facilitating greater balance and wholeness.
